Tell us about yourself.
my name is Mina Farahani and i’m 28 years old. I got a doctorate in linguistics and a Master’s Degree in English Literature. I teach english language in university, translate some books and of course, i have wrote a book about vaulting but i haven’t found a suitable publisher yet for publishing it. Also, i have a Gymnastics Club and i teach Gymnastics.
how did you get interested in horse and vaulting?
I lived in England as a child, my father had a friend who was a horse rider and This is how I became interested in horses. I started working with horses when I was 5 years old and Of course, I worked in gymnastics at the same time. I became very interested in not allowing myself to avoid the horse because of its dangers. i hated stirrup in horse riding and I wanted to be closer to the horse and sit on the horse as easily as possible, That’s why they offered me vaulting. In Brighton there was a German trainer named Gelf Longa Who discovered my talent when I was 7 years old And he asked me to go to Germany for training.
After going to Germany I learned horse riding and all the things I needed to know about horses At specialized schools for vaulting.
Tell us about vaulting: why did you choose Iran, the country in which vaulting was not known, to continue your vaulting career?
vaulting is more comprehensive than the other equestrian fields And it takes a lot of courage and balance to do it. vaulting riders are very skilful. Someone trained in vaulting will definitely be a good rider while The opposite is not the case.
I came back to Iran with my family for about seven years While I could have had better positions in Germany or Spain. I’m not a slogan but i love my country from my heart and I want to continue my work here.
vaulting is new to Iran, What is your opinion as the founder and most influential person in vaulting about Infrastructure and Development in iran?
First of all, we have to train jumping horses and bring top class dressage horses here. Because we have to bring the proper horse for each field. A horse that retired on the jumping is suitable for vaulting. A horse that has good rhythm, good balance and is obedient.
After that, it is very important to educate the students. Simultaneous equestrian and gymnastics training is very important for this field.
Being the founder of vaulting in Iran is an opportunity or a threat for you?
To me, none of this. I have a better position outside of Iran And I work here just because of my personal interest. So I’m not looking for opportunities or threats.
What are your current vaulting activities?
I am currently in charge of the Vaulting Committee of the Federation.I was in the federation full time before, but I resigned because of a lot of work. I run Vaulting courses
In different provinces I have been asked to. I also have students who get trained and perform in competitions. I brought a simulator from Germany at my own expense For students to practice it after training.
Does the Vaulting require Special clothing because of the acrobatics? Can girls work in the field without limitation?
Of course we have clothing restrictions And that’s why we tried to Consider both freedom of action and the limitations of society In women’s clothing design So that we can continue our work in Iran. we can also use local costumes in certain shows.
What are the problems in the horse and rider industry in Iran Which has become a problem for you too?
There are many problems. Unfortunately, the speculators ruined the horse market. Prices have to be real and we have to find reliable people. This speculative process is damaging to the entire horse industry.
What do you think about the future of vaulting in Iran?
We have many talents in the country that do not grow. We need to recognize the talents and help them grow,Take classes and courses in cities, hold periodic competitions and Make this field national. We have the ability to participate internationally as well but, Unfortunately, these talents do not grow because of the lack of facilities and support. So we need support and competitions nationwide. We have to hold national competitions and bring referees from abroad.
Imagine no vaulting right now And you have to choose another field, What is your choice?
If vaulting didn’t exist, I wouldn’t want to ride. since in all of the fields, the priority is with horse While in vaulting, the priority is with the rider. But in other disciplines, I also like gymnastics and figure skating.

Have you had an important horse?
I loved a lot of horses But it is Calinet8 the horse that surprised me. I love black horse.
Do You have any advice for those working in vaulting?
I’ve translated the laws of vaulting And I’ve given it to the federation. Please read carefully. Watch videos and tutorials over and over. Ask for voltage shows and keep repeating to become a professional.

All I am trying to do is for girls to pursue this field. Because we also have broadcast restrictions. Although I’m happy even if the boys show up Because it will be a good advertisement for this field.
